From raw lot to keys: a realistic build timeline

“How long does it take?” is the first question and the hardest to answer honestly — because most of the timeline is decided before a single trade shows up. Here’s the realistic shape of it.
Months 1–3: design & approvals
Briefing, plans, selections and permits. It feels slow because nothing is visible yet, but this is where the whole build is really won or lost. Rushing here is what causes changes — and delays — later.
Months 4–9: the build
Foundation, framing, the trades, then finishes. Framing goes up fast and feels thrilling; the finishing months feel slower because the progress is in the details you can’t photograph.
The part people underestimate
Selections and decisions. The build waits on your choices as much as on weather. Clients who decide finishes early — before framing — are the ones who get their keys on schedule.
